Funnel cake is a popular dessert that is typically found in fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks in the United States. The cake is made by pouring a batter made of flour, sugar, milk, and eggs through a funnel or a squeeze bottle into hot oil. The batter forms long, spiraled strands that are fried until golden brown and then dusted with powdered sugar. The origins of the funnel cake can be traced back to medieval Europe, where similar fried dough dishes were served at festivals and fairs. The modern version of funnel cake is believed to have been introduced to the United States in the late 19th century, where it quickly became a popular treat at carnivals and fairs. Today, it is a beloved dessert that can be found in many restaurants, food trucks, and at home-made versions for special occasions.
